Going for gold at the NitrOlympX in Hockenheim

No time to rest for the teams of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Hardly recovered from the exciting races at Tierp Arena, it’s time for the famous NitrOlympX at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the HockenheimRing. Duncan Micallef (Top Fuel), Jonny Lagg (Top Methanol), David Vegter (Pro Modified) and Jimmy Ålund (Pro Stock) are the current leaders, but one thing is for sure and that is that nothing is sure looking at the different winners so far this season. Interesting ingredients for another exciting round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.

Hegre, Christiansen, Morrison Jnr and Lymant take the Summit marbles

Despite a couple of showers to interpret the schedule, the full set of FIM-E eliminations was completed at the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals at Tierp Arena just north of Stockholm, Sweden. The knockout phase produced some surprises, some superb racing and some movement in the points as the European championship heads into its home stretch over the next month with two events remaining.

Duncan Micallef, Sandro Bellio, David Vegter and Jimmy Ålund number one qualifiers at Summit Racing Equipment Internationals

Although there were several improvements on day two of qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals at Tierp Arena, three of the four Friday leaders remained in the number one position. Thus Duncan Micallef is the number one qualifier in Top Fuel with 3.791 seconds, David Vegter in Pro Modified and Jimmy Ålund in Pro Stock and they will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s eliminations of round three of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Top Methanol was the only class with a new leader after day two as Sandro Bellio stormed to a great 5.50 seconds to take over the lead from Jonny Lagg.
